We achieve this by utilizing fiber extraction of discarded banana stems (agro waste) form vast banana plantation across Africa. We will train female and orphans to extracts and weaves banana fiber with banana fiber extraction machine and weaving equipment respectively to produce high quality crafts, which they later become trainers for their cooperative members.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Most parts of Nigeria and other Africa countries cultivate Banana and plantain for the fruits. Other parts which are economical are thrown out as waste. We intend to train women to utilize the stem for the making of high quality material for the industry.

How will this project solve this problem?

This project will achieve its aim through encouraging women, groups and families to plant banana and plantain for commercial purpose. And the utilization of banana stem by extraction and weaving of fiber. This will be done through the platform of Sustainable Growth Africa Development Initiative (SUGRADI) by training group of women and providing them with equipment with end products buy-back program.
